Wheelchair access
Home Page

With the addition of Princess Charlotte our Eco Electric boat to our fleet, we are now able to offer wheelchair users access to the river.

At present this service is only available from The Plough at Fen Ditton.

When booking a private tour please make it clear you have a wheelchair user in your group so that we can allocate the correct boat for your booking.

Wheelchair access will also be available for some public trips at weekends from The Plough - please check in advance as public trips are subject to change.

Wheelchair Access Project for Rosie

Due to the design of narrowboats we have three steps down into the passenger cabin of Rosie and two into Ariana, both with good handrails for support.

These are manageable by those semi mobile, however it does create a barrier for people unable to negotiate them.

To this end we are planning to add a scissor lift to one of our boats - 'Rosie'

The lift will be in the bow section accessible from both sides of the boat.

We have had a few initial quotes and the price is over £10,000 which is why we have not been able to fund the installation ourselves to date.

Family outing

Upgrading 'Rosie'
will create the perfect access
to the river environment.

As well as adding the scissor lift, we will be upgrading the toilet facilities too, so the overall project needs to raise getting on for £15k
